Course Prerequisites

QUALIFICATIONS

Who can enroll in a 4-Day Externship?

All mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, family physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, counsellors, pastors and clergy, and students training in these professions.  Registrants will be required to declare their professional designation. School counsellors are permitted to attend if they are licensed and belong to a professional body that has standards of practice for psychotherapy/counselling. Life coaches are not permitted to attend unless they also belong to one of the mental health professional categories listed above.

Who can Enroll in Advanced Core Skills?

This is an Intermediate/Advanced course. Participants must have taken the pre-requisite 4-Day Externship, be licensed therapists or license-eligible psychotherapy interns or otherwise legally allowed to practice as mental health professionals.

Students currently enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral Level program in mental health or social work are also eligible to participate in the Advanced Core Skills Series.


PREREQUISITES, ADVANCED CORE SKILLS TRAINING

To participate in Advanced Core Skills Training, you must:

  1. Have completed an ICEEFT approved 4-Day Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

  2. Be willing to be videotaped for case consultation


AGREEMENTS

For Externship and Advanced Core Skills, Participants must:

  1. Be willing to be a part of a learning community of mental health professionals where relational values are at the core. We strive to co-create a safe learning space for all therapists, where all identities are valued and welcomed. This creates an environment for optimal learning, and enhances each participants experience and growth.

  2. Be willing to engage in conversations around cultural humility and how this impacts you and your clinical EFT practice.

  3. Read the Cancellation Policy Carefully and agree to it’s terms.

For Advanced Core Skills:

  1. We enter this agreement in good faith: We guarantee your spot in the series and invest in your learning to the best of our ability, and we trust your intention to complete the series and fulfill payment obligations for each module.

    • The Core Skills Participant agrees to attending in the entire Core Skills Series Modules 1-5 and fulfilling all financial obligations for enrollment. Completing the registration and fulfilling payment for the first (Module 1) and last module (Module 5) of the Advanced Core Skills Training series enrolls the applicant in the full course and reserves the space for attendance in all sessions and is a declaration of intent to complete the course.

    • We know sometimes exceptions sometimes need to be made. We will do our best to work with you regarding special and unforeseen circumstances.

Certification is offered by ICEEFT based on completion of all requirements and demonstrated competence in the model. Completion of training does not guarantee competence or certification.
